Repair a corrupted
Word, Excel or PowerPoint file.

"The file is corrupt and cannot be opened." We re-save your DOCX, XLSX or PPTX through a repair-tolerant engine and hand you back a clean copy in the same format.

Repair my file →

Available on Pro (€9.99/mo), Business (€49.99/mo), and Enterprise. EU-hosted, files deleted after 1 hour.

✓ How it works: Office files (.docx / .xlsx / .pptx) are ZIP packages of XML. When one part is malformed or a relationship is broken, Word/Excel/PowerPoint refuse to open the whole file. We open it with LibreOffice — whose import filters are far more tolerant of defects — and export a fresh, well-formed file in the same format. Deterministic, no AI, nothing leaves the server.
⚠ Best-effort: if a file is so damaged that even LibreOffice can't open it (truncated download, overwritten bytes), it can't be recovered — no tool can rebuild data that's gone. And complex documents can shift slightly in layout when re-saved. Always open and check the repaired file before relying on it.
Word, Excel & PowerPoint
Works on modern Office Open XML files — .docx, .xlsx and .pptx. The output keeps the same format, so nothing downstream needs to change.
Fixes structural damage
Broken internal relationships, malformed XML parts and bad ZIP structure are the usual cause of "can't open" errors. Re-saving from a tolerant engine rebuilds a valid package.
Private & secure
Every upload is virus-scanned, processed in the EU over HTTPS, never shared, never used for AI training, and permanently deleted within 1 hour.

How it works

1
Upload the damaged file
Sign in to your Pro / Business / Enterprise account, open the "Repair Word / Excel / PowerPoint" tool, and drag your .docx, .xlsx or .pptx in.
2
We re-build it
We open the file with LibreOffice's repair-tolerant import and export a fresh, well-formed copy in the same format.
3
Download the working file
Open it in Office, confirm your content is intact, and you're done. If the file was too damaged to open at all, we tell you — no silent half-fix.

What it can and can't fix

✅ "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened"

This common Office error usually means a malformed XML part or a broken relationship inside the package. Re-saving from a tolerant engine rebuilds a valid file — the most recoverable case.

✅ Files that download or transfer incompletely

Interrupted downloads, broken email attachments and buggy "export to Office" tools often produce a structurally invalid but content-complete file. These usually recover well.

❌ Files truncated or overwritten — data physically gone

If part of the file was never saved or was overwritten, those bytes don't exist anymore. We recover everything still present, but can't invent missing content.

❌ Password-protected / encrypted documents

If the file is encrypted and you don't have the password, it can't be opened to repair. Remove the protection in Office first (with the password), then repair.

Will my formatting change?

For most documents, no visible change. Very complex files (intricate layouts, macros, unusual embedded objects) can shift slightly when re-saved — always review the result. Macros (VBA) are not preserved.

Is there a file size limit?

Pro users get 500 MB per file. Business users get 5 GB.

Can I repair Office files through the API?

Yes. Send the file to /api/v1/convert with op=repair-office. See the API docs for the full request format.
