Formatly is a small, EU-based product team focused on one thing: a file conversion service that respects your privacy. This page is honest about who we are, how we operate, and what we believe.

Why Formatly exists

Most online file converters are either ad-stuffed funnels that train AI on your uploads, or enterprise platforms whose terms of service are 40 pages of fine print. We thought there was room for a third option: a converter that's fast, transparent, hosted in the EU, deletes your file an hour after the conversion finishes, and never sends your data to anyone's AI training pipeline.

That's the whole pitch. No dark patterns, no surprise charges. No "free for 7 days then we sell your email." No three-page cookie consent banner.

Who we are

Formatly is a small, focused team. We've deliberately kept it lean so we can ship quickly, stay close to our users, and remain aligned with EU data-protection requirements. As we grow we'll add specialized roles — but right now the goal is one good product, not a big company.

That structure has trade-offs we want to be upfront about:

If you email support@formatly.pro, a real human reads it — usually within a few hours on weekdays.
We don't have a 24/7 NOC. We monitor the service proactively and respond fast, but we're not a phone-support operation — every plan gets email support, with priority for Pro, Business, and Enterprise.
We ship product changes regularly, not quarterly. The changelog is honest — every meaningful update goes there.

How we operate

Infrastructure — hosted on Hetzner Cloud in Germany. File processing happens entirely in the EU; the only US sub-processors are Stripe (payments) and Resend (transactional email), both covered by Standard Contractual Clauses and listed in the . GDPR-compliant by design.
Payments — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store card data.

What we believe

Files belong to the people who upload them. We process them, return them, and delete them. They don't go anywhere else.
AI training on user data is not free engineering. It's a privacy trade you didn't agree to. We won't make that trade.
Pricing should be readable in 30 seconds. Four plans, one price each, no hidden fees — what you see on the pricing page is what you pay.
Security is a promise, not a checkbox. If a bug or vulnerability is reported, we treat it as a top priority and aim to fix it as quickly as possible — and we work every day to protect your privacy and keep the service available.
